New DINOVA CODEC

In the small competitive world of digital video recorders it is hard to determine who has a quality product without sifting through the technical jargon and knowing what is good and what is not. The CODEC is one of these technicalities that are often overlooked by the untrained eye.

In short, the CODEC is the format by which the images the cameras record are written into the hard drive. Much like different languages are more emotional or objective, different CODECs produce better images or offer a lower compression rate which enables the user to store more data. MPEG based CODECs usually offer a quality image at a high compression rate which gives the user a clearer picture but will fill up their hard drive faster than a WAVELET or MVIA based CODEC that sacrifices picture quality in the attempt to store more video.

Our older systems have used the WAVELET format, however our technicians have noticed that the compression rate for the WAVELET format was frequently inconsistent and at times the rate would rise to a point at which it would mirror the rates of the higher clarity MPEG formats. To solve this problem our computer engineers have spent many months testing, analyzing, and perfecting our brand new DINOVA CODEC.

The significance of our new DINOVA CODEC is that it boasts a stable low compression rate that was hard to achieve in the unstable WAVELET format while exceeding the picture clarity of the MPEG 1 and MPEG 4. The clarity of the images even rivals that of the DVD quality MPEG 2 format. This innovative CODEC system is certainly a new benchmark in DVR technology and a product of our endless dedication to better serving our customers.
